_________________________________________________________________________________________
Permission for: 1. Construction of a single storey bungalow type dwelling house, proprietary
waste water treatment system and polishing filter, construct new entrance onto existing
laneway and all other associated site development works.
The proposed development is located on a poor aquifer in an area of extreme groundwater
vulnerability. The development site is located within the Clontibret_020 sub-basin which has
been assigned Moderate status under the Water Framework Directive status (2016 - 2021) with
an objective of Restore to Good Status by 2027. Agriculture, Hydromorphology and Domestic
Wastewater treatment systems have been identified as significant pressures on this waterbody.
The application states that foul water will discharge to a tertiary treatment system prior to
discharge to ground. A Site Characterisation Form has been submitted with the application. I
recommend the file is referred to the EHO for assessment & comment.
The application states that storm water will discharge to a soak-pit. The Clontibret stream runs
along the edge of the site it is imperative that mitigation measures are in place for the
construction phase to ensure no polluting discharges to the watercourse. A water protection
checklist has not been included with the application. It is recommended that a water protection
checklist and a CEMP are requested prior to commencement of development.
