HomeMy WebLinkAbout2560410 - Submission No 2Submission Details Submitter Name Shane Mc Elroy Address drumbrone magheracloone Carrickmacross Co Monaghan A81KW95 Note I object to this retention resubmission (ref. 20/155) as it entrenches a hotel that has operated as closed emergency accommodation for Ukrainian refugees since 2020, in breach of its original tourism use and local plan policies (Chapter 10, Development Management Guidelines 2007). The intensified layout—9 attic bedrooms (528.41 m²), 11 reconfigured bedrooms, and a 62 m² meeting room repurposed as kitchen/laundry—lacks fire safety certification (Part B, TGD B 2020) and Disability Access compliance, while amplifying noise, traffic, and waste on adjoining homes. This prolonged diversion has cost local jobs and tourism revenue—nationally €1.1 bn and 10,000 hospitality jobs lost (Fáilte Ireland/IHF 2023), with visitor nights still 25–40% below 2019 (CSO 2025). Granting retention rewards non-compliance (Planning Act 2000, s.34(4)), ignores vague “site works” (Circular PL 11/21), and blocks reversion to tourism as emergency centres close (DCEDIY, May 2025). Refuse to safeguard jobs, tourism, and planning integrity. In relation to application File Number 2560410 Name Unicorn Ltd. Leah Address Treacys Hotel, Losset, Kingscourt Road, Carrickmacross, Co.
