Dear Sir/Madam,
We refer to your recent correspondence regarding the above-mentioned application for development at
Coolshanagh/Roosky, Monaghan Town.
Inland Fisheries Ireland (IFI) is a statutory agency responsible for inland fisheries in Ireland. Under section 7(1) of
the Inland Fisheries Act 2010 (No. 10 of 2010) the principal function of IFI is the protection, management and
conservation of the inland fisheries resource.
The Shambles River contains valuable fisheries habitat and support stocks of coarse fish among other species.
The Ecological status of the waterbody at this location, Shambles_010, is Poor and At Risk of not achieving Good
status.
IFI has the following recommendations regarding this application:
• Surface water should be management in a sustainable manner incorporating Nature based solutions where
possible.
• There should be no poor-quality discharges from the site to the nearby Shambles River both during and
following the proposed works. Mitigation measures should be put in place at the commencement of site
works.
