Monaghan Dear Sir/Madam, I wish to submit my support for the above planning application. I'm involved with a contracting business (McCartney Contractors) serving poultry producers throughout County Monaghan and the surrounding region. A significant portion of my work involves dealing with farmers in relation to compliance along with the co-ordinating of the collection and transport of poultry litter from broiler farms to disposal or end -use locations. At present, this regularly requires long-distance transport journeys, often travelling considerable distances outside the county. These trips involve substantial fuel consumption, increased transport costs, additional vehicle movements on rural roads, and higher associated carbon emissions. The proposed biogas facility would provide a far more efficient and environmentally responsible outlet for poultry litter and other organic materials within the local area. A centrally located facility in a region that is already a hub of broiler production makes practical and logistical sense. From my professional experience, reducing haulage distances would: • Significantly reduce transport emissions • Decrease fuel consumption • Lower heavy vehicle traffic on rural road networks • Improve operational efficiency for local farmers • Support a more sustainable, locally based waste management solution In addition, the production of renewable energy and organic fertiliser from these materials represents a positive circular economy model that directly supports agriculture. As someone working daily within this sector, I believe this development is both practical and beneficial for the area. It provides a structured, regulated solution to managing poultry by-products while supporting renewable energy generation and local economic activity. This submission is supported by a number of additional local signatories who share these views and recognise the importance of sustainable rural development. I respectfully request that the Planning Authority give favourable consideration to this application.
