HomeMy WebLinkAbout2660121 - Submission - Colm & Roisin MartinMonaghan County Council 1 Dublin Street, Monaghan. i+. Ref: Objection to planning application no. 2660121/Owen ShevLin 3 APR 2Ul3 i1 To the planning department, We live 500m from this proposed site, and we would like to lodge an objection to the above planning application on the following grounds, 1. There are currently 3 existing landfill sites, within a 2 minutes drive from this proposed site as follows:- - Daniel King, WFP MN -002-02, (1.5km from this proposed site) - Paddy Kearney WFP-MN-21-001-01, (1.5km from this proposed site) Plant/trucks using both of these sites travel on the Aughrim beg road (L8600), on which Owen Shevlin is now seeking permission for this new site. I have attached pictures of this road, which is currently in a disgraceful state and is largely due to the constant volume of articulated lorries that use it every day to access particularly Daniel Kings site. The majority of the trucks travel at the excessive speed and manner for the road size and occupancy. - John O'Neill, WFP-MN-23-004-01 (2 km from this proposed site) This is the third site which had just opened in the last few weeks. the blue circles are the 3 existing landfill site's and the red is this proposed, they are all within a 2km radius COLGAGH R 179 SNANARNEY AUGHRIM MORE Blackstaff O TATTYBOY If this application is approved it will be the 4th site in this locality, the volume of trucks will double and it will make this road even more hazardous for the local resident's. It is currently unsafe for kids to walk or cycle as the road width allows no room for pedestrians/cyclists to stand in and avoid the trucks which run constantly most days I have phoned Monaghan County Council in the past myself to voice my concern's over the volume of trucks and the manner in which they drive. There have been numerous occasions where the trucks have lost part of the load and the road was impassable for a period of time. I have attached images of items which have fallen off the trucks and gone un-noticed by the drivers leaving local's to remove them in order to use the road. 2. We have our own domestic well and would have concearn's in relation to the potential contamination of the water table in this area with the already 3 landfill sites, not to mention adding another one 500m from our well. 3. The run-off from this site, which is being cleared at the moment is leading directly down to the river fane which provides drinking water for Dundalk and surrounding areas. It's very clear the applicant is not from the locality, as if they were, they would be aware of the above issues which have been the bane of locals lives for many years now. Which is why we are in complete opposition to this application. Regards, C Colm & Roisin Martin, Aughrim Beg, Culloville, Castlebleyney, Co Monaghan, j - - - ; { 4Q { ' VI
