The Planning Authority is not satisfied that the design and appearance of the proposed entrance
gates and railings comply with the Landscaping and Boundary Treatment requirements set out
under Policy LCP 1(e) of the Monaghan County Development Plan 2025-2031.
This policy states that the use of inappropriate or overly ornate boundary treatments, including
gates and piers incorporating concrete balustrades, brickwork, blockwork or other unsympathetic
materials, should be avoided. In this regard, the applicant is requested to submit revised drawings
demonstrating a simplified design for the entrance gates and railings that is more in keeping with
the policy requirements.
