Monaghan Agent: Stephen Moffett, Corlea, Ballybay, Co. Monaghan. Permission to construct a slatted shed for the housing of livestock together with attached roofed manure shed together with all ancillary and associated site works at Straghan or Cornasore & Drumgarn, Co. Monaghan as per application No. 26/60183. The proposed development site is located on an area of low to medium groundwater vulnerability which is underlain by the Monaghan Town groundwater body, a productive fissured Aquifer of good status. The site is located close to the Blackwater 040 stream. This waterbody has been classified as being of Poor Status, 2019-2024 with an objective of improving to Good Status by 2027. Given the identification of Agriculture as a significant pressure in the area it is imperative that the site is managed in a manner which prevents the runoff of any organic fertilisers or soiled waters either directly or indirectly to receiving surface waters in accordance with the requirements of the European Union (Good Agricultural Practice for the Protection of Waters) Regulations. Given the proposals and information submitted I have no objection to granting permission for this development as it will lead to an improvement in facilities including the removal of any risk of escape of soiled water/FYM seepage to the adjacent watercourse, the Blackwater 040. I have no objection to planning permission subject to the following conditions; ENV 1 GAPPW Regulations The development/facility hereby approved shall be operated in accordance with the European Union (Good Agricultural Practice for Protection of Waters) Regulations 2025.
