Permission to extend existing poultry unit, erect a new manure store, connect to storage
tanks, reposition meal bins, open new entrance on to public road and all associated site
works.
The proposed development site is located on an area of low groundwater vulnerability which is
underlain by a Locally Important Bedrock Aquifer that is Moderately Productive only in Local
Zones. The site is located within the Blackwater Monaghan_10 waterbody and the Scotstown _20
waterbody. The Blackwater Monaghan_10 is classifled as Good status 2016-2021, this waterbody
is currently at Review status, Agriculture and Urban Wastewater have been listed as signiflcant
pressures, the WFD objective for this waterbody is “Protect from Deterioration”. The
Scotstown_20 was classifled as High status 2016-2021 and has a WFD objective of “Protect from
Deterioration. It is important that the site is managed in a manner which does not impact on
surrounding water quality.
The additional information in red below was requested on this application
1. A fully completed agricultural application form.
A fully completed agricultural application form has been included with FI.
2. The proposed number of birds to be housed on site after the proposed development.
The FI response from CLW planners’ details that the existing and proposed bird
numbers will be unchanged at 39,955 birds. It is proposed to replace the existing caged
system with a muti tier aviary/barn with weekly manure removal to manure store.
3. A signed letter from a registered contractor for the collection of all poultry manure arising

Regulations, 2022 as amended.
It is detailed in the FI response that 27-week manure storage will be provided onsite. It is
detailed that the proposed manure store can store 881.72m3 and the volume produced
in a 26-week period is 842.4m3 of manure,
5. Details on the volume of wash waters produced per annum (m3)
It is detailed in the FI response that no >40m3 of soiled water will be produced after every
16-month cycle.
6. Details on how it is proposed to collect and store all wash waters from the poultry unit
and the manure storage on site during wash out operations in accordance with the
requirements of the European Union (Good Agricultural Practice for the Protection of
Waters) Regulations, 2022. Conflrm the dimensions of the existing and proposed wash
water tanks.
It is detailed that 22.72m3 of capacity is available for the storage of soiled waters arising
from the development. It is detailed that soiled water will be used on the applicants own
holding, maps of land and N & P statements have been included with FI. 40m3 of soiled
water will increase the Organic N on the holding to 141.8kgN/yr.
7. Submit an up-to-date Nutrient Management Plan Assessment demonstrating how it is
proposed to utilise wash waters arising from the proposed development in accordance
with the European Union (Good Agricultural Practice for Protection of Waters)

11. Details of the atmospheric emissions from the existing units (kgN/yr) and the proposed
atmospheric emissions from the proposed development (kgN/yr).
Details included with FI note no increase in bird places as a result of the proposed
development and note a decrease in ammonia emissions as a result of the proposed
development. FI details existing ammonia emissions of 0.315kg/bird place and the
proposed ammonia emission of 0.14kg/bird place.
