Background
The proposed development is located on a Regionally Important Fissured Bedrock aquifer in an area
of Extreme groundwater vulnerability making the aquifer extremely susceptible to pollution. The
development site is located within the Glyde SC_020 subcatchment which has been assigned Poor
ecological status under the Water Framework Directive. Pressures include Agriculture, Industry, Urban
Waste Water, Urban Run-off and Hydromorphology.
The existing water supply to the property is provided via Donaghmoyne Group Water Scheme. The
applicant intends to manage all existing and proposed surface water by directing it to the current on-
site soakaway.
The applicant proposes to retain the existing wastewater treatment system and install a new pump
station and soil polishing filter. Soil polishing filter will be installed downstream of the retained WWTS
system for final effluent treatment and discharge to groundwater. Site characterisation report
received with the application. I note the file has been forwarded to the EHO for comment.
A Water Protection Checklist has been received with the application
