There are just two emptoyees, consisting of my father and l. The business operates from a shed behind my parents'house, and as there is onty my dad and I invotved - we use toitet facitities in the house, meaning there is no requirement to have these facitities on the premises. This buitding has been in use as ei workshop since the tate 1980's and as sueh has been subject to commercial rates, which havb atways been paid annuatty. The primary focus of the business is the design, fabrication and fitting of decorative steet products, mainty consisting of curved batustrades, staircases, gates and rail.ings. I go to site and meet with customers to discuss their requirements and design. Once agreed, I comptete said work in my workshop, and we then carry out att the fitting for the customer. This then means that the customer is not required to visit my workshop, [eaving no rise in traffic to my premises. Atongside this work, I atso carry out smat[ repairs for neighbouring farmers and the tocat GAA Cl.ub. I get my steet suppties delivered on average every 4-6 weeks, atthough with extra storage capacity- I hope to onty require detiveries every 8-10 weeks going forward, which wi[[ reduce traffic further. The work predominantty invotves cutting stee[ on the bandsaw, dritting with a pittar dritt and wetding together. The noise tevets from these machines are minimat and white some guitl.otining of stee[ sheets takes ptace - this work is infrequent. No noise comptaints have ever been received, and the nature of the work is not attering With regards to finished products, seme items require gatvanising before painting. These items are coLtected by torry on average twice a month and are returned the same way. Everything gets shot-btasted and painted. This is not carried out on my premises, instead -this is compl.eted by a reputabte locaI company Jennbtast Services, on their own premises. The new extension is to be used for increased storage of materiat, and to give greater working area around the metaI working equipment. There is no ptanned increase in workforce, [eaving no further increase in traffic either. Current business hours are 8.30am to O5.30pm Monday to Friday and any detiveries are scheduted within these hours. I hope the above outtines what we do and hope to achieve in the future for C. Duffy Engineering. I woutd be most gratefuI if you wou[d ptease consider the extension of my current workshop for ease going forward.
