planning
and
sequence of
operations:
PROGRAMME & SAFETY
The program of works will be agreed with the client’s representative and may be subject to change at any time.
An initial walkthrough of each of the site will be carried out on the morning of the survey with the site contact.
The purpose of the walkthrough is to develop a safe plan of work/programme and to identify any additional
risks associated with the scope of the asbestos survey.
SEQUENCE OF ASBESTOS SURVEY
The purpose of the survey is to survey and sample all accessible areas of the existing buildings on the site. All
accessible areas will be surveyed and safe access to all areas will be the responsibility of the Client. Access to all
external roof areas will be via a boom lift (organised by Phoenix). Representative samples will be collected by
the asbestos surveyors for laboratory analysis. Sampling will be carried out in accordance with our Procedures
Manual. Site drawings will be used to clearly identify the sampling points. Samples will be taken using a sharp
knife with a spring-loaded retractable blade or a simi lar hand tool to cut a representative portion from each
suspect sample. No mechanical or electrical power tools will be used for sampling. The suspect samples will be
doubled bagged and sealed in airtight plastic bags for laboratory analysis.
LIMITATIONS
Samples will not be taken where the act of sampling would endanger the surveyor e.g. sampling near working
machinery or live electrical equipment. Samples will not be taken when prohibited by the client.
Following the completion of the asbestos survey, the surveyor(s) will contact the site contact and complete the
sign out sheet
