Signed :- Vincent & Mary Lennon NOTICE Changes to our classified section in order to comply with the Consumer Protection Act 2007 The Consumer Protection Act requires that advertisements from traders of goods must state in a reasonably clear manner that the advertised goods are being supplied in the course of a trade, busi- ness or professional. Section 55 subsection 1 (x) of this act states: "A trader shall not engage in any of the following commer- cial practices... (x) making a representation or creating an impression that the trader (i) is not act- ing for purposes related to the trader r trade, business or profession, when the trader is so acting, or (ii) is acting as a consumer, when the trader is not. " While this requirement re- lates to all traders, it is of particular relevance to ,the car sales classified adver- tisements. Section 69 of the Act makes it an offence to publish an advertisment that contravenes the above. In order to comply with this act the Anglo Celt will be inserting the following code to all relevant advertisments from the next edition of each paper. A PRIVATE SELLER will be indicated with - (P) A TRADE SELLER will be indicated with - (T) We would request that all advertisers state clearly which category they fall into at the time of placing their advertising with any of the above companies. As it is an offence to publish an avertisement without this information we will have to turn away any advertisement that does not comply with these changes. Thank you for your co-operation.
