Re Planning Application for Edel Byrne, Carrickmaclim, Carrickmacross, Co. Monaghan
Dear Ben
Further to your communication dated the 3rd of June, 2026, I can confirm the following:
Hugh A Finn of Drumgoan, Carrickmacross, Co Monaghan, Ref Herd Number has retired
from farming and has leased his lands and farmyard to Ms Edel Finn, (Nee Byrne ) on a long-term
lease arrangement. We submitted a BISS application for Hugh in 2026, with Nil lands declared and
submitted an application to transfer his BISS entitlements, by way of lease to Edel Finn (Nee Byrne ). I
attach an NMP statement for Hugh for 2025, and can confirm that he will not have any livestock in
his Herd Number in 2026.
I also attach an NPM statement for KDC Farms Limited, Corlea, Carrickmacross, Co. Monaghan, Ref
Herd Number This confirms their stocking rate for 2025 was 137 Kgs/Ha of Organic N ,
which is significantly below the Nitrates limit of 170 kgs/Ha. In 2025, KDC declared 45.34 Ha of lands
on their BISS application. In 2026, part of the lands they were farming were allocated to Edel Finn
(Nee Byrne) and KDC declared a Ref area for Nitrates of 30.22 Ha. (See copy BISS application
attached). The remaining 15.12 Ha were transferred to Edel Finn (Nee Byrne ), along with the
associated BISS entitlements for 2026.
For clarity, both KDC Farms Limited, and Edel Finn (Nee Byrne ), will maintain stocking rates in
compliance with the current Nitrate regulations, (ie below 170 Kgs/Ha), and it is proposed no
exports of slurry to KDC Farms will take place in the coming years.
I have attached a copy of Edel Finn’s (Nee Byrne), 2026 BISS applications showing both the 15.12 Ha
from KDC and Hugh A Finn ’s lands declared for 2026. The projected stocking numbers submitted for
Edel previously are correct.
