Occurrences: 1 GROUP C: To incorporate species: Rowan, Alder, Willow, Ash and Scots Pine. Occurrences: 1 (Total 12 trees) RECEIVED: 09/09/2026 Landscaping Proposals Existing Flora: The site already benefits from existing mature native trees and hedging which will be retained and protected during construction (unless their removal is essential for the development of the site). This will aid the integration of the building(s) into the existing landscape and retain the character of the site. Hedges to new boundaries: It is recommended to ALWAYS use native Irish hedgerow and tree species and planting should include a selection from the table overleaf. Plants of local provenance (i.e. grown from seed from plants growing locally) are preferable if available because they will be best adapted to growing locally. New hedges are to incorporate species which already exist on -site, planting should be at 0.5m centres and a weed-free area 1m wide at the base should be maintained to encourage rapid establishment of the hedge. Larger native deciduous trees may be integrated into the hedge to add height contrast and give a more natural look. Where a hedge is removed to facilitate unobstructed sightlines, the new hedge and any trees planted along the boundary should be set back 3m from the visibility splays and maintained/trimmed regularly to ensure no encroachment on the splays. Hedgerows should only be cut while dormant - early September to late February - to minimise disruption to nesting birds. Tree planting around proposed dwelling: Trees should be carefully selected and planted in accordance with the site suitability recommendations in the table overleaf. It is important to take into account the space requirements of growing trees. The distance between the tree and any nearby buildings should not be less than the expected maximum height of the tree. Generally, planting of trees in groups is preferable to planting trees singly or in rows. Trees should be staked and tied, checked twice yearly for signs of disease/damage and remain staked for 3 years so as to allow the tree to establish itself sufficiently. Any failures in the tree planting scheme within two seasons of planting shall be replaced. It is recommended new hedges be planted as soon as is viable with lawns sown and trees planted upon completion of the house.
