The Monaghan County Development Plan 2025-2031 must contain objec ves and policies on a wide range of
important topics. These topics are set out as headings below to assist in making a submission. A number of ques ons
are also posed under each of these topic headings to encourage you to think about these topics and to assist you
with making sugges ons on what the key issues facing County Monaghan over the future plan period are and how
they can be addressed under the development plan. Please enter “N/A” in any of the comment boxes where you

1. In older urban areas developed a plan for urban renewal of older houses. Note the importance of developing
road access to rear of older houses so as to encourage renovation and use primarily as residential.
2. Co Council to develop areas with serviced sites at edge of towns/ larger villages for purchase by interested
individuals who wish to design their own house plan with relevant professionals.

Brief comment.
1. Re climate action. Please apply the targets in government climate plan that are relevant to co monaghan.
2. Seek to surpass the 51% reduction in emissions in the county by 2030.
3. Re biodiversity: promote action to discourage use of herbicide in domestic, farming, commercial, municipal
and all sectors.
4. Re renewable energy. The use of the Scotch corner site as a major renewable energy site for solar or battery
storage or anaerobic digestion should be investigated. Lough Egish could be an alternative location for
anaerobic digestion and link to natural gas network
