Climate Change, Environment and Heritage Max 2500 characters N/A Max 2500 characters Prices soaring inevitably means people will move further from main towns looking for cheaper alternatives meaning towns like Ballinode become commuter towns. With greater development villages like this need greater amenities and resources available to residents Ballinode currently has no childcare facilities, no church/chapel, no school, no medical facilities, no banking/post office facilities. There are a number of unsightly derelict properties in the village that could be repurposed for any of these uses, however owners do not want to sell/repurpose these buildings. Evening drop in centres in rural areas that could be used by younger people for gathering, meeting, coffee, games rooms, social (Foroige) Along with increased settlement comes the greater need for traffic control in our village, not only this but better roads and footpaths for people to use. These have been overlooked in recent times. Approach roads also need to be taken into consideration. Max 2500 characters Housing should only be located where there is access to facilities to cater for the capacity of those who will move to the area. (Young families need childcare etc) It should also be located in areas that have facilities to cope with the influx of new people new developments bring. Housing needs should be based on the data of families currently on the housing lists. Facilities included in development planning should include transport needs, schooling, childcare, medical facilities Ballinode for examples would greatly benefit from any one of these facilities With TWO potential new developments in the village the need for traffic calming in the main street of the village needs to be addressed Please provide your comments in the box below. More emphasis should be placed in the heritage and surroundings in Knockatallon, it have huge tourism potential. Insurance issues with current facilities in the location should be addressed. Max 2500 characters MORE FARMERS MARKETS IN RURAL LOCATIONS SUPPORTS TO MAKE THIS HAPPEN Max 2500 characters Kilmore GAA grounds (currently being redeveloped) and Holywood lake are both located walking distance from both Ballinode and Scotstown villages and are both hugely used by the younger population of both villages A walking/cycling track has been proposed for many years by Ballinode Community Projects and has recently been taken over by Mon CoCo. This development would be a huge asset to the area and increase safety for the people walking to both locations. Bottle bins would be an asset in Ballinode village with new housing developments planned bring potentially over 200 people to the village. The closest bins are currently located in Tydavnet Community Centre grounds. Recycling Schemes should be considered for homes with an inventive added - reduced fees/rates based on material recycles.
